Bringing over 400,000 visitors of travellers to Australia annually. Plan your next trip to this picturesque tropical paradise and spot the magical things that scatter the area.

Why is it so magical?

The Daintree Rainforest is a World Heritage Listed site and is one of the oldest rainforests in the world. It dates back 180 million years, which is around 10 million years older than the famous Amazon Rainforest. It is home to some of Australia’s rarest flora and fauna, with some animals and plants that aren’t found anywhere else in the entire world.

Animals

Daintree’s main appeal is its variety of animals roaming the area. With the rainforest holding a huge percentage of the entire country’s animal population. This includes around 30% of Australia’s entire frog population, 65% of butterflies and bats and 18% of birds. Species that are found nowhere else include the Bennett’s and Lumholtz Tree Kangaroos, the Ulysses Butterfly, and the Spotted-tailed Quoll. It is home to a diverse range creature, with roughly over 12,000 different insect species that buzz around the area. Make sure you keep your eyes peeled as there are animals hidden in every crevasse.

Plants

The plants in this rainforest are just as interesting as the animals. The diversity, complexity, and age of the ecosystem’s plant species are one of the greatest in the entire world. Having over three thousand types of plant species covering the area. Out of the 19 primate plants families in the entire world, 12 are found in this one rainforest. As well, it is home to some of the biggest trees on the planet, with the tallest being a whopping forty-four meters high, which is almost the same as the statue of liberty.

Cape Tribulation

Finally, the Daintree Rainforest is the gateway to the famous Cape Tribulation. A coastal area untouched by urban development, and is a blend of unspoiled beaches, stunning reefs, and tropical rainforests. A visit to Cape Tribulation is not possible without going through Daintree, as it is the only entrance to this incredible travel spot.
