Daintree Rainforest Day Tours
Let the charm of Port Douglas’ village and the wonders of the Great Barrier Reef and Daintree Rainforest revitalize you. This is the only place in the world where two World Heritage-listed sites exist side by side-Daintree and The Great Barrier Reef! The Daintree Rainforest is a landscape with striking diversity. The Daintree Rainforest is a world untouched by the world of urban development, noise and air pollution. Breathe in the purity and scent of the rainforest and explore your natural surroundings. Cape Tribulation has so many activities on offer including bush walking, kayaking, horse riding treks, diving and snorkelling, exotic fruit tastings and river cruises.
Cape Tribulation Village is located on the northern side of the Daintree River. Daintree Village is located on the southern bank of the Daintree River just 20 Kilometres north form Port Douglas and 60 kilometres north of Cairns.
Timber cutters who came here looking for the big red cedar trees in the 1880s first settled the town! When the timber started running out, other industries such as dairy and beef became the local livelihood. Dairy farms were established which allowed a butter factory to be opened in 1924. Beef farming later became a significant local employer. All the produce was transported by boat until 1933 when the road finally reached the village. The Village had a store, post office, drapery, butcher, baker, cafe, and blacksmith and sawmill office.
Today Daintree Village has a small community of less than a hundred people thriving on tourism and cattle and tropical fruit farming. Daintree Village has become famous for early morning tours on the Daintree River, which are very popular with visiting birdwatchers.
The north east coast of Queensland boasts a wide range of stunning natural attractions, and the Daintree Rainforest is no exception. The 135-million year old rainforest located in the Cape Tribulation region of the Daintree is one of the most remarkable in the world and has been included on the prestigious World Heritage List since 1988.
Daintree Rainforest tours are a fantastic way to experience the highlights this stunning region has to offer — and for animal lovers, exploring the area is an absolute must.
